Assistant Principal Falkville High School Morgan County School District
I am a lifelong teacher and learner who has recently completed my twenty-eighth year in education. I hold Master’s degrees in both Instructional Leadership and Secondary English, and my Educational Specialist degree is in the area of Teacher Leadership. In 2000, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescent/English Language Arts, an area that concentrates on literacy instruction for students between eleven and fifteen years of age. I re-certified in 2009 and now act as a mentor to other teachers in the pursuit of this professional certification. I am also a Google Certified Educator: Levels 1 and 2.
Before serving in my current position as the assistant principal at Falkville High School, I taught middle school English and reading and have also worked as an instructional coach. Throughout my career, I have served on a number of committees, including most recently the Alabama Regional In-Service Accountability Standards Committee. My belief in the power of professional development has led me to facilitate workshops at the local, state, and national levels, and I specialize in the areas of adolescent literacy and instructional technology. I am honored to serve on the Learning Forward Board and eager to continue my own professional growth.
