Board Member
Director of Curriculum and Instruction Tuscaloosa County Schools
As one of three Directors of Curriculum & Instruction for the Tuscaloosa County School System, I am responsible for the supervision of 12 schools ranging from elementary to high school in the Southern Region of Tuscaloosa County. I am also the elementary curriculum contact for our system. My primary job is cooperatively working with my colleagues and Superintendent on all things related to the direction, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs in grades K-12 system-wide. Together we work to supervise and assist our principals in the performance of their duties so that our schools and our students can continue to learn, grow, and achieve. One of the things that I enjoy the most is working as a team with my colleagues in developing quality professional development to turn around to our principals, assistant principals, and instructional coaches. My education career spans over 21 years and includes National Board for Professional Teachers Certification in the area of Middle Childhood Generalist, 15 years of teaching experience, as well as, having served in the capacity of both assistant principal and elementary school principal of a Title I School. My undergraduate degrees are in Business Administration and Elementary Education from Birmingham-Southern College. The University of Alabama at Birmingham is where I obtained Master’s Degrees in Elementary Education and Instructional Leadership. My Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership is also from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Currently, I am pursuing a doctorate in Instructional Leadership from Samford University. It is my pleasure to be a part of the Learning Forward Board of Directors as I am looking forward to learning with all of you.
