For the past twelve years I have I had the pleasure of serving teachers in North Alabama as the AAMU/UAH Regional Inservice Center Director. Prior to my work with inservice teachers, I taught pre-service teacher candidates at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. I began my teaching career at Lynn Fanning Elementary School as a 4th grade teacher.
Reaching back to give a boost up was instilled into me as a child. With this belief, I serve as a mentor for PhD Reading and Literacy candidates at Alabama A & M University.
I enjoy growing and empowering teachers who in turn grow and empower students. I lead professional learning opportunities for teachers across the United States in the area of adolescent literature, content literacy and disrupting poverty.
